Fire Station #49
County of Riverside
Riverside County's Fire Station #49 has been designed to serve Desert Center, CA. This new single-story, 9,145 SF, three-apparatus bay, six-bed fire station features a dedicated emergency generator capable of supporting the facility without interruption for up to 72 hours. Additionally, the project includes extensive site improvements such as new driveways, parking areas, hardscaping, a trash enclosure, carports, automated vehicular gates, and an 8-foot-high perimeter fence made of wrought iron with security pickets and a CMU block wall.
Fire Station #49 continues Riverside County's commitment to providing essential services to its communities. While the architecture maintains a traditional approach, the design team has incorporated contemporary materials and techniques to subtly modernize the building's exterior. For instance, metal panels, a modern material, are used as accents in the traditional Firehouse Red, enhancing the facade's appearance while preserving the elegance of classic architecture. The interior design utilizes high ceilings and generous living spaces to provide the firefighters with a proper space of respite between calls.
